Good to see John Protevi blogging – I’ve followed for a while now his insightful interventions on topics such as the Terri Schiavo case on sites like the now defunct Philosophy of Biology blog, as well as being grateful numerous times for the excellent D&G material available on his website. Further, going way back now to the 90s, during a his sojourn at Warwick, JP was an excellent conversation partner for all matters Deleuze, Derrida and Hegel-related – the hidden vein of contrarianism hinted at by his support of Scotland in the 1996 European Championships notwithstanding.

Meanwhile, Felix has now reached 18 months of age, and has, along with his contemporaries, now mastered the word ‘no’ (more like ‘no! no! NO!’, of course, accompanied by airborne toys and cutlery), along with ‘car’ (applied obsessively and exhaustively to wheeled objects, including suitcases),’dog’, ‘birdie’ (thanks to the seagulls currently precariously nesting on our roof), and ‘iddy’, which appears to be his name for me, based I suppose either on the difficulty of pronouncing initial ds, or on the obvious parallels between my approach to household management and 70s Uganda.
